CA’s budget woes are preventing police from disarming “prohibited persons”

The LA Times reports that there are nearly 20,000 people in the State who are either mentally ill or are convicted felons who possess firearms. All of these people are what the law calls “prohibited person”; those whose 2nd Amendment rights have either been suspended or stripped from them. These are that group whom the gun grabbers call “the wrong people”. One would think that California’s priority would be to enforce our existing gun laws and disarm this group. However, it seems that the State has other things that it would like to spend its scarce cash on.

…like passing more gun laws.

State Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) looks at a semi-automatic rifle during a joint legislative hearing on gun control. Testimony showed some of California’s strict gun laws have been undermined by budget problems. (Steve Yeater, Associated Press / January 29, 2013)
