The weapon she used to defend her home and her children is classified as an “assault weapon” by several States. It’s flat out illegal in places like New York and Connecticut. The gun in question, a Hi Point 995TS, is an entry level gun; only about $300. “A home defense gun for non-gun people” is how one blogger described it. Another called it “not a good gun. But it is a good enough gun”. It’s cheap, rugged, accurate enough, and goes Bang! when you want it to.
