SB 610 stripped of automatic CCW provision for members of Congress

SB 610, authored by Sen. Rod Wright (D-Inglewood), passed out of the Senate Public Safety Committee; but, not until after a provision that would have automatically approved CCW permits for members of Congress was stripped from the bill. SB 610 will streamline the CCW permit process and is supported by the NRA. The bill would require local law enforcement to give a specific reason for denying a permit. It also requires local law enforcement to make a “good cause” determination before an applicant has incurred the expense of a training course. It also forbids requiring an applicant to purchase liability insurance as a condition for obtaining a permit.
